Professor of Biostatistics
Dr. Chen is the Founding Director of the Center for Health Analytics and Synthesis of Evidence (CHASE) at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania. He also founded and directs the Penn Computing, Inference, and Learning Lab (PennCIL), which focuses on integrating fundamental statistical principles with quantitative methods to address key challenges in modern biomedical data. An expert in synthesizing evidence from multiple data sources, Dr. Chen specializes in systematic reviews, meta-analyses, distributed algorithms, and data integration, with applications in comparative effectiveness studies, health policy, and precision medicine. He has authored over 200 peer-reviewed papers, including 70 on statistical methodologies and 70 on medical informatics. Dr. Chen’s research has received continuous funding from the NIH, AHRQ, and PCORI.
