Alexis Ogdie, MD, MSCE, Director of the Penn Psoriatic Arthritis and Spondyloarthritis Program and Director of the Penn Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, has been selected as a 2025–2026 fellow of the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program at Drexel University College of Medicine. The ELAM program is the only longitudinal leadership program in North America dedicated to preparing women for senior leadership roles in academic health centers. Dr. Ogdie joins a class of 100 ELAM fellows and 50 Executive Leadership in Health Care (ELH) fellows selected from 118 institutions.
“The need for the highest quality leaders in academic health care has never been greater,” said Dr. Nancy D. Spector, Executive Director of ELAM. “We are thrilled to welcome this outstanding class of fellows and look forward to the impact they will make through their projects and leadership.”
With expertise in psoriatic arthritis (PsA), axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA), and rheumatoid arthritis (RA), Dr. Ogdie’s research aims to improve outcomes in inflammatory arthritis through early diagnosis, patient-centered care, and the advancement of precision medicine. Her interdisciplinary work spans epidemiology, biostatistics, and clinical trial design, with a focus on pragmatic and holistic care models. She is also leading several innovative trials, including EVOLUTION, the first head-to-head pragmatic trial in PsA, and DIPSA, a study examining dietary interventions in PsA.
Dr. Ogdie’s selection reflects her leadership and dedication to improving the lives of patients with inflammatory arthritis. Her fellowship will begin in June 2025 and will culminate with the Leaders Forum and graduation in April 2026.
