We are delighted to share that Dr. Nandita Mitra, Professor of Biostatistics and Co-Director of the Center for Causal Inference, has been elected President of the Society for Causal Inference (SCI). This prestigious role reflects Dr. Mitra’s leadership in the field and her longstanding contributions to advancing rigorous methods for understanding causal relationships in medicine and health policy.

The Society for Causal Inference is an international professional society that promotes methodological innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the application of causal inference across diverse domains. As President, Dr. Mitra will lead efforts to support early-career researchers, foster cross-disciplinary partnerships, and shape the Society’s annual flagship event—the American Causal Inference Conference (ACIC).

Dr. Mitra’s election is a recognition of her impactful scholarship and service, including her research on observational studies, semi-parametric methods, and causal methods for policy evaluation. Through her work as an educator, mentor, and scientific leader, she has helped to shape the next generation of statisticians and data scientists.
