Kimberly B. Glazer, PhD, MPH Image

Dr. Kimberly B. Glazer is Assistant Professor in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Her mixed methods research combines epidemiology, health services research, and implementation science to bridge “know-do” gaps and inform clinical practice and quality improvement across the preconception-pregnancy-postpartum continuum.

Dr. Glazer has a specific interest in the influence of weight and body size on reproductive and obstetric care processes and outcomes. She uses a biopsychosocial lens to investigate the presentation, course, and clinical management of obesity, and aims to challenge weight-centric care paradigms to develop person-centered models for counseling and clinical decision-making. Current research foci include identifying optimal labor induction regimens for individuals with obesity, measuring weight bias in obstetrics, and implementing shared decision-making for labor and delivery interventions. She has published extensively on maternal and infant health disparities and the role of care quality in perinatal health outcomes.

Dr. Glazer earned her bachelor’s degree in Global Health, graduating summa cum laude from Georgetown University in 2007. She went on to receive her Master of Public Health in Population and Family Health from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health in New York City in 2011. In 2019, she completed her PhD in Epidemiology at the Brown University School of Public Health. Dr. Glazer is supported by a Career Development Award from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (K01HS029525).
