Katherine (Kate) Courtright MD, MSHP is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and core faculty at the Palliative and Advanced Illness Research (PAIR) Center in the Perelman School of Medicine. She is a critical care and palliative medicine physician and health services researcher. Her research focuses on optimizing the implementation and outcomes of palliative care delivery for individuals with serious illness, particularly those in the hospital.
Dr. Courtright has been a principal investigator on multiple federally funded large, pragmatic clinical trials evaluating the real-world effectiveness and implementation context of clinician nudges to improve the frequency, timing, and quality of palliative care. She was a recipient of the 2022 Early Career Investigator Award from the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the 2025 Top 20 Research Achievement Award from the Clinical Research Forum. Her research is supported by the National Institutes of Health and the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
