Dr. J. Margo Brooks Carthon is a Professor of Nursing and Africana Studies at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, where she holds the Tyson Family Endowed Term Chair for Gerontological Research and serves as Associate Director of the Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research. A Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, Dr. Brooks Carthon is recognized for pioneering research on the relationship between nursing care quality and racial health disparities. Her THRIVE program—an equity-centered model for Medicaid patients transitioning from hospital to home—received the American Academy of Nursing’s 2024 Edge Runner award.
