Join us on Feb. 26, 2025 for expert-led sessions, groundbreaking research presentations, and dynamic discussions exploring Precision Health in the Era of Artificial Intelligence.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming precision healthcare by driving data-driven, personalized approaches to disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Through advanced algorithms and machine learning, AI is unlocking critical insights from complex datasets and empowering clinicians and health data science researchers to enhance patient care, optimize resources, and promote health equity.
Explore the potential of artificial intelligence in healthcare at the 7th Annual DBEI Research Day (Feb. 26, 2025). Join leading experts as they tackle emerging topics related to advancing “Precision Health in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” such as AI-Ready Data, Innovation in Data Science, and Implementation Science for Precision Health.
The conference will feature cutting-edge research and faculty spotlight presentations, research poster exhibition, and opportunities to network with researchers, clinicians, and innovators from the DBEI, Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM), and the University of Pennsylvania communities who are shaping the future of precision healthcare.
PLEASE NOTE: DBEI Research Day is open to the DBEI community and PSOM/Penn affiliates. Registration for this in-person event is required.
Dr. Foraker is Professor and Chair of the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Biostatistics and Medical Epidemiology at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. She is trained as an epidemiologist and holds fellowships in the American Heart Association, American Medical Informatics Association, and the American College of Medical Informatics. Dr. Foraker specializes in the design of population-based studies and the integration of electronic health record data with socioeconomic indicators as well as the use of synthetic data for research. Her recent research has focused on the application of clinical decision support – embedded in the electronic health record – to complement risk scoring in primary care, cardiology, oncology, and palliative care.
Explore the schedule of thought-provoking sessions, dynamic discussions, and networking opportunities that bridge data and discovery.
Enrique Schisterman, PhD, the DBEI Chair and the Perelman Professor of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics will present opening remarks for the conference.

“From Data to Decisions: AI’s Impact on Personalized Healthcare Delivery”
In this keynote address, Randi E. Foraker, PhD, MA, FAHA, FAMIA, FACMI, Professor and Chair of the Department of Biomedical Informatics, Biostatistics and Medical Epidemiology (BBME) at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, will explore how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the healthcare landscape, particularly in enhancing personalized care. The talk will highlight how machine learning (ML) algorithms can analyze vast amounts of healthcare data—such as patient histories, diagnostic results, and real-time monitoring data—to identify patterns and predict individual health risks. ML models which augment clinical decision support systems can empower healthcare professionals to make more accurate, data-driven decisions that are tailored to each patient’s unique needs, thus improving outcomes. An AI-powered approach to healthcare—from ML models to advanced clinical decision support systems—is shaping a future where personalized, data-informed care can be delivered more effectively and equitably across patient populations.
“An Overview of Precision Health in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”
Hongzhe Li, PhD, the DBEI Vice Chair of Research Integration and the Perelman Professor of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Informatics, will present an overview of the conference’s theme and set the stage for the day’s talks.
