
We are proud to share that Dr. Ellie Caniglia, ScD, Assistant Professor of Epidemiology, has been named the recipient of the Society for Epidemiologic Research’s Brian MacMahon Early Career Epidemiologist Award. This prestigious award, funded by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, honors early career epidemiologists who have made significant contributions to the field and demonstrate strong potential to become future leaders in epidemiology.
Dr. Caniglia is a perinatal and HIV epidemiologist whose research has made important contributions to improving health outcomes among pregnant people, their children, and people with HIV. She uses advanced methods for causal inference to identify effective treatment and prevention strategies and collaborates widely on projects related to HIV and reproductive, perinatal, and pediatric epidemiology. Dr. Caniglia currently leads a K01-funded study through the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development to evaluate micronutrient supplementation during pregnancy in Botswana.
Her growing body of work also includes studies on lifestyle, pharmaceutical, and health services interventions aimed at improving neonatal and maternal outcomes and addressing disparities. She is passionate about teaching and training the next generation of epidemiologists.
