Dr. Hsu’s statistical research focuses on methods for observational studies and causal inference. He has specific interests in survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis, inverse probability treatment weighting, and the potential (counterfactual) outcomes approach in causal inference. Additionally, he has a broad interest in applying statistical methods to public health, epidemiology, and health policy research. Dr. Hsu is involved in several collaborative research projects related to renal diseases, funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), as well as in lung transplants and heart and lung disorders, supported by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). Dr. Hsu joined the University of Pennsylvania in 2014.
