Nishant Sinha, PhD Image

Dr. Nishant Sinha, Assistant Professor of Informatics in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics, is a neuroscientist with interdisciplinary expertise in engineering, informatics, biostatistics, and neurology, specializing in translational and clinical research. He was previously an NIH K99 postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sinha has over 12 years of experience in translational neuroinformatics, beginning with his predoctoral training at Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and Massachusetts General Hospital (U.S.) from 2012 to 2017, where he developed quantitative EEG and neuroimaging methods to map epileptic networks. During his PhD at Newcastle University and University College London Hospital (UK) from 2017 to 2021, he innovated advanced imaging techniques to predict surgical outcomes in epilepsy.

At the University of Pennsylvania (2021–present), Dr. Sinha integrated multimodal data—neuroimaging, electrophysiology, and clinical data from electronic health record—to develop scalable, clinically translatable methods to improve epilepsy treatment. Dr. Sinha’s research is supported by independent external grants from the American Epilepsy Society, the Department of Defense, and NIH K99-R00 awards.
