Kevin B. Johnson, MD, MS, David L. Cohen University Professor, is one of 21 authors of a new National Academy of Medicine (NAM) report that establishes a national framework for the ethical use of artificial intelligence in health and medicine.
Titled An AI Code of Conduct for Health and Medicine: Essential Guidance for Aligned Action, the report outlines six core commitments to help guide responsible AI adoption across healthcare, with a focus on equity, transparency, accountability, and innovation.
“There isn’t a shared playbook to make sure AI tools are safe, fair, and actually useful,” Johnson said. “This report brings order to a rapidly evolving space and provides a framework for developing and using AI responsibly.”
Johnson holds faculty appointments across three Penn schools and is nationally recognized for his work in electronic prescribing and computer-based clinical documentation. Please join us in congratulating Dr. Johnson on this national contribution!
